Today's Conversation with AI - llms.txt

The site is gradually taking shape. Well, it’s still not quite up to par—it’s basically just “still in its old form.” This site does have a strong “Maker” vibe to it. I believe the true purpose of “Maker” is to present my own work to a wider audience. In other words, I hope people will relate to them, recreate them, and enjoy them together.

This site also aims to achieve that. So, I thought about what I could do to increase the success rate of those recreations. What came up in my conversation with the AI was llms.txt. There are various ways to train an AI individually, but this method is relatively simple and, if it works, can be quite effective. Since this site is SSG based on hugo, they’re a good match (though I’m writing this as a general observation—a week ago, it was ?…). llms.txt converts site information into plain text, making it accessible for reference. In other words, it’s information intended for AI to read. I wondered if I could put this to use. Currently, the most difficult work on this site is Trinity. I thought I’d written it in reasonable detail, but precisely because it’s so detailed, there are parts that are difficult to grasp. llms.txt incorporates this information as well. Users who want to reproduce the results should feed llms.txt into the AI they’re using, and if they ask the right questions, AI should guide them to a solution, right?

So I gave it a try. Specifically, this time I incorporated it into Contact and designed it to guide users toward answering AI when they make a query. Depending on AI, the URL for teamknox.com/llms.txt is sometimes readable and sometimes not. To give some typical examples, ChatGPT could be accessed, while Gemini could not. Gemini seems to have a high token limit (though I get the impression it quietly breaks down as you use it), but I can’t help but feel it still has a long way to go in this regard…

Once it actually manages to load, it returns answers to questions with reasonable accuracy. I have a feeling this will become an essential feature for Maker sites in the future.
