There was a sign at the entrance that said something like Loved for 46 Years.” It’s been 30 years since I**,** an old-timer, moved to Yokohama. This restaurant is located along the Isezaki Mall, and even though I live nearby, this is my first time visiting. I heard they serve oyster fried rice starting in November, so I came here to set a benchmark in anticipation of that. In a way, you could call that a somewhat impure motive. The interior had a nice, cozy vibe. If you grab a seat by the window, you’d probably be able to see people coming and going along Isezaki Mall. Most of the customers seemed to be regulars. Since they don’t offer set meals, ordering was a bit of a challenge. The only self-contained options are noodle dishes or rice dishes. With the oyster fried rice on my mind, I decided to order the crab fried rice instead—just one character different.First, just the fried rice arrived, and two minutes later, the soup came. The soup was piled high on the tray, so it seemed like they were serving it in batches. Kanagawa used to have a unique fried rice culture (past tense). That is, in addition to a soup spoon, they also provided a regular spoon!I’ve never seen both served together in the neighborhood near my parents’ house—and even at my distant relative’s local Chinese restaurant, they only served a soup spoon. To tell you the truth, even in Kanagawa, more and more restaurants these days are serving only soup spoons. So, what about this restaurant with its 46-year history? They only served a soup spoon… What a shame—maybe this tradition has gone extinct…
The taste is pretty ordinary—even for crab fried rice, 1,200 yen is a bit much. Considering that the mixed vegetable fried rice is 900 yen, the oyster fried rice would probably cost 1,500 yen or more. Well, if I’d been a regular at this place for a while, I’d probably go back, but unfortunately,
LTV(Life Time Value)won’t be around for long. For now, I’m not sure if I’ll order the oyster fried rice…It looks like you can use a credit card for cashless payments on purchases of 3,000 yen or more. It doesn’t seem like they accept QR code payments.
