Secret Base

I’m also working on building the website a little bit every day. It involves things like digging up old memories and organizing photos. As I was doing these tasks, I felt a sense of nostalgia. Wondering what it was, I reflected on that feeling and began to think, Could it be the secret hideout I built when I was a kid?”

When I was a kid, there wasn’t as much entertainment as there is now, so I was always craving that kind of thing. It was partly the sense of escapism, and partly because secret bases appeared all the time in the tokusatsu shows that were just starting to become popular back then. Oh, right—that’s why they’re special effects shows: because the extraordinary is a regular part of everyday life… Well, even when I called them secret bases,” they were really just enclosures I’d built out of the cardboard boxes that came with a new refrigerator, or—even when I built them in the park—they were very makeshift structures made from empty bottle crates and sheets I’d found lying around.
Right now, I might actually be able to build a real secret base. Or maybe a hideout—though I’m not really in the mood to build one. Still, as I recall everything I’ve done so far and dig through folders or think about documents, it feels a lot like the excitement and thrill of building a secret base. With those thoughts in mind, I’m organizing photos of my past work.
