Watching a Basketball Game

Yesterday, at the invitation of a former junior colleague from my days at Nokia, I went to watch a pro basketball game at the Yokohama Budokan. His wife is also a former colleague of mine, and we see each other from time to time, but I was happy to have the chance to catch up with her during the game.

Watching this basketball game is a precious opportunity that adds color to the life of a retired old-timer like me. I may have written this somewhere before, but lately I’ve been watching nothing but sports programs. I don’t even watch the news or documentaries anymore. On top of that, sports basically feature young people giving it their all and pushing their bodies to the limit. Just being able to see that is a rare treat—especially live. To be honest, as a Yokohama resident, I can watch Yokohama Excellence games for free if I take advantage of the opportunity. Plus, it’s a huge help that I can walk from my old-timer’s house to either the Budokan or the Bunka-Tai. I get to watch about three games a season. When I have extra tickets, I can invite family and friends, and I look forward to having a drink on the way home. I’m sure they’ll keep entertaining me this season, too.
